About Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection

The legendary platforming series rises again, as Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection marks the heroic return of the series, which debuted over 35 years ago. Paying homage to Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, the latest entry combines the franchise’s action platforming gameplay with storybook-like graphics and challenging new obstacles. The new entry will once again follow the valiant knight Arthur as he runs, jumps and battles his way through eerie stages set in the Demon Realm, a demonic fantasy world. Arthur must overcome countless ghoulish foes on his quest to rescue the princess from the treacherous grasp of the Demon Lord. Brave knights will need to proceed with extreme caution as terrifying dangers await, including familiar enemies like Zombie, Skeleton Murderer, Pigman and Red Arremer.

Whether a longtime Ghosts ‘n Goblins fan or a newcomer, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection players can decide how perilous Arthur’s journey will be by selecting one of three different difficulties: Squire, Knight and Legend. New to Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is the Page mode, which allows untested apprentices to respawn on the spot with unlimited lives. To progress through the Demon Realm, Arthur must utilize everything at his disposal, from tried-and-true weapons like the Lance and Dagger to all-new additions like the Hammer and Spiked Ball. Arthur’s updated arsenal also includes various types of skills and magic, allowing players to bring game-changing spells like Firewall and Thunderstorm into combat. WORMS TODAY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF EXPLODING SHEEP, HOLY HAND GRENADES, AND ANNOYING POKES OFF CLIFF EDGES

The iconic series reaches a quarter of a century as it prepares for the launch of its latest incarnation, Worms Rumble, on 1st December.

Team17 is today celebrating 25 years of its most iconic franchise, Worms. First launched on 17th November 1995 on the Commodore Amiga, Worms games have featured on console, PC, and mobile platforms throughout the hardware generations, with more than 75 million copies enjoyed.

Originally produced as ‘Total Wormage’ by creator Andy Davidson the Worms series has long expanded and experimented with new concepts and gameplay, including 2003’s Worms 3D and 2011’s Worms Crazy Golf. The latest installment – the fast paced, real-time action Worms Rumble – will continue this inventive trend on 1st December when it launches on PlayStation® 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

To celebrate the milestone, until 24th November the brand new Team17 Store is offering a wide selection of Worms games with up to 80% discounts, and curated bundles offering even greater savings. An additional 10% discount code is available via Team17’s social media channels to celebrate the recent launch of the store, and also applies to Worms Rumble pre-orders! Today also sees the announcement that three iconic instalments in the series, WormsWorms Armageddon, and Worms Blast, will launch onto the Evercade console platform in 2021. A special set of pin badges from Pinfinity that feature Worms through the ages – with added augmented reality functionality – will also soon be available for pre-order.

Team17’s Twitch channel is being taken over for a 13-hour live stream, hosted by some special guests as they play Worms games from the past 25 years: Until 5pm GMT, Stream team Halcyon Frequency is playing classic Worms titles including, Worms ArmageddonWorms ReloadedWorms RevolutionWorms Ultimate MayhemWorms WMD, and Worms Clan Wars! Between 5pm-6pm GMT, Team17 community advocate streamers WobblyRedMan, TwiceTheSlice, and JoeR55 will be playing Worms Rumble on Team17’s Steam and Twitch channels, alongside some of the Worms Rumble developers.

Debbie Bestwick MBE, Chief Executive Officer, Team17, said:

It’s a series loved by gamers of all ages for decades, with an enduring appeal even when it’s explored and played with new experiences. Watching the series develop over the years has been a wonderful journey to share with one of the most passionate and vocal communities in gaming. Here’s to another 25 years of Worms!”

Select pieces of art will also be made available digitally after launch.
The installation is one of many activations that will be coming to life worldwide as we approach launch day, all of which will be featured in the official Xbox launch livestream on Nov. 10 starting 11 a.m. PST. More info about what is happening around the globe can be found here.

Gamers shelling out £450 for the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles are actually getting a great deal, as gaming systems of yesteryear would have cost as much as £1,200 in today’s money.

The money saving team from NetVoucherCodes.co.uk have looked at how much 33 classic consoles were when they launched and after adjusting the prices for inflation, it turns out that just over 30% of them would have cost more than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

This means that the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles, which feature the very best in modern gaming technology, are actually great value for money.

One of the first video game systems to be brought into the home was the Atari 2600. In 1977 it would have cost families £199, which translates to a whopping £1246 in today’s money.

*Please note Nintendo Switch original price was £279 not £429

Other expensive consoles include the 1990 TurboGrafx 16 which cost the equivalent of £914, and the 1993 Panasonic 3DO that cost a staggering £600 at the time – around £1231 now.

Some of the most budget friendly consoles that the research has highlighted include the Nintendo GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS, which would have cost just £92 and £195 in today’s money.

TheNetVoucherCodes.co.uk team have used digital Argos catalogues going back to 1977 to find the £RRP of the consoles at launch, and worked out what they’d cost now using Bank of England’s inflation calculator.

A spokesperson forNetVoucherCodes.co.uk said: “After the new consoles were announced, gamers were waiting with bated breath to see just how much of a dent they were going to leave in their pockets.

“For the top-level consoles, families are going to have to shell out at least £500 for the system and a game which sounds extortionate, but looking at how much popular consoles have cost throughout the decades, we’re actually getting a pretty good deal.

“Video game technology is more advanced than ever before but, taking into account the price of inflation, just over 30% of mainstream consoles have technically cost more than these new releases.

“This should be good news for gamers who are keen to get their hands on the new systems. Only question is which one do you choose? It’s worth taking into account the games that will be exclusive to each console, as well as subscription costs like Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus.”

Boom Shakka Lakka! Insert Coin, the Ultimate Midway Games Documentary, Releases November 25 as Part of Alamo Drafthouse On Demand

Today, Cargo Film & Releasing — a global film sales and distribution agency — is pleased to announce the upcoming digital release of Insert Coin, a documentary focused on the history of Midway Games, a ragtag team of game developers with a simple punk-rock design mantra: “there are no rules.” Director Joshua Tsui’s Insert Coin takes viewers on a raucous ride with the studio’s iconoclastic designers led by Eugene Jarvis as they introduced the world to industry-defining games such as NARCMortal Kombat and NBA Jam that earned over a billion dollars at the arcade and remain pop culture touchstones to this day!

Insert Coin releases on November 25, 2020, as part of Alamo Drafthouse’s Alamo On Demand Digital Release and in independent cinemas nationwide.

Insert Coin is the authoritative insider Joshua Tsui’s love letter to Midway Games, where he worked on the Mortal Kombat franchise (and whose face was used for character Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat IV). A graduate of Columbia’s film school, Joshua also led efforts to introduce digitized video technology to an industry previously dominated by hand-drawn pixels.

Insert Coin features interviews with past Midway team members including Eugene Jarvis (Defender and Robotron: 2084), Mark Turmell (SmashTV, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz), John Tobias (co-creator Mortal Kombat series), George Petro (NARC, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Revolution X), and others. Also prominently featured are industry insiders Carly Kocurek (Coin-Operated Americans) and novelist and screenwriter Ernest Cline (Ready Player OneArmada). Insert Coin showcases the history of one of the most unique groups of game creators of the arcade and early console era.

“We’re thrilled to work with Joshua Tsui and his team to finally bring Insert Coin to fans,” said David Piperni, Founder of Cargo Film & Releasing. “Midway is so core to gaming’s DNA, and this documentary reminds us all of those great gaming moments from the past, right down to the sounds of Scorpion’s ‘Get over Here!’ to the ‘Boom Shakka Lakka’ of NBA Jam!”

Insert Coin is the culmination of my work in and passion for the gaming industry blended with my love for visual storytelling,” added Joshua Tsui, Insert Coin’s director. “It truly is my love letter to the early days of Midway and how it influenced the transition from classic coin-operated games to ushering in a new generation of console gaming. I hope fans of video games, and especially of Midway, will love watching Insert Coin as much as we enjoyed making it!”

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Midway Games took the world by storm with games such as Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Rampage, SmashTV and countless others. Led by Eugene Jarvis, an acclaimed game designer in his own right, the studio dominated the market with hit after hit. Insert Coin looks at both the rise and fall of Midway Games and everything in-between — from the creative personalities who brought Scorpion and Sub-Zero into the cultural zeitgeist to the games that introduced the iconic characters. Midway affected the culture – not just of gaming – but of public consciousness as a whole. Featuring interviews with the team behind some of Midway Games’ biggest hits, along with games industry personalities, Insert Coin is the definitive look at one of the most important contributors to gaming history.
